Key Takeaways

• Houston traded for Adams on February 1, 2024, and he quickly became a fan favorite and a depth piece at center, reinforcing the roster’s veteran presence.
• Over the past two seasons, Adams has appeared in only 97 games, including seven playoff games, highlighting a recurring health/training hurdle.
• In his regular-season return, Adams posted 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal across 9 minutes, demonstrating a cautious but solid incremental contribution after injury recovery.
• Entering the current season at age 33, he was a game-time decision up to tip-off, illustrating ongoing uncertainty about his availability and role.
• Houston’s team trajectory could clash with Adams’ role if calf issues persist, potentially pushing the front office to explore additional center depth.
• Through two early wins, the Rockets show momentum, but the next stretch—an away game in Atlanta followed by a home matchup against the same opponent—will test how Adams and the roster handle a tougher schedule.
• Overall, Adams remains a leadership presence and a stabilizing bench voice, but his continued health is the key determinant of whether he remains a core piece or a rotation-dependent asset.
